María Juliana Santanilla Díaz is a biologist, science educator, and nature photographer. She holds a BSc in Biology from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. She is the co-founder and director of Ciencia Tropical, a science communication project launched in 2019 that focuses on conservation, biodiversity, environmental issues, and other scientific fields. Through Ciencia Tropical, she develops science audiovisual content for social media platforms.

She has worked as a science educator with primary and middle school students in Colombia and has led educational projects on health, lifestyle, and invasive species. She is also trained in photography, with a focus on nature and wildlife, which she integrates into science communication and education. She is currently pursuing an MA in Wildlife Documentary Production at the University of Salford.
