Brazilian Lead and Principal Investigator, University of São Paulo.

Professor of Biosystems Engineering at USP/Brazil, specializing in the development of sustainable materials and CO2 sequestration strategies for the construction sector. His research aims to deliver innovative solutions that integrate sustainability with climate change mitigation, focusing on circular economy, ECODESIGN, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The professor’s work particularly emphasizes the use of agro-industrial by-products, fostering a positive environmental impact within construction. He currently leads the I-Mat research group (Innovation in Sustainable Materials) and is a member of the BioSMat Research Support Center - Materials for Biosystems at USP. His research aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in sustainable industry (SDG 9), responsible consumption (SDG 12), and climate action (SDG 13), contributing to the development of a greener and more innovative infrastructure.

He is currently working on the SargaSTREAM in Brazil, contributing his extensive experience in alternative building materials to research the use of Sargassum for producing particle boards and adobe bricks, aiming to provide alternative solutions for local communities affected by this biomass.
