Gabriela Pitolli Lyra
Postdoctoral Researcher, Construction Materials/Scientific Coordinator-Health Impact Analysis. University of São Paulo
Postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo (USP), focusing on the valorization of Sargassum in construction materials and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP), with an emphasis on construction and agro-industrial engineering, and in Construction Engineering (Ingeniería de la Construcción) from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Completed a master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering with the thesis: "Lightweight aggregates of red ceramics incorporating sugarcane bagasse ash sintered in a microwave furnace." Graduated in Biosystems Engineering, where she participated in extension activities focused on research into red ceramics with the addition of ash from the sugarcane industry, sintered using both conventional and non-conventional methods.
She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo (USP) in the SargaSTREAM project, helping to coordinate medical tests and assessments for personnel in Mexico and leading research on construction materials, specifically conducting Life Cycle Assessments of Sargassum, particle boards, and adobe bricks made from Sargassum.
